The School of Education at Point Park University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a primary focus on educational leadership and teaching excellence. Requirements

  • Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Education, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching or educational leadership roles.
  • Experience within PreK-12 education, higher education, or related educational settings.
  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence, student success, and collaborative leadership and decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching in higher education, particularly in educator or leadership preparation programs.
  • Experience with online, hybrid, or innovative instructional models.
  • Background in program leadership, accreditation, or assessment.
  • Record of professional practice, applied scholarship, or research aligned with leadership and education.
  • Experience integrating technology, experiential learning, or community-based partnerships into instruction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive leadership and teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in educational leadership, teacher preparation, or related areas aligned with expertise and program needs.
  • Model exemplary, student-centered, and inclusive teaching practices across face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments.
  • Design authentic learning experiences that connect theory to practice and emphasize leadership, decision-making, and real-world problem solving.
  • Continuously assess and improve courses using student feedback, assessment data, and current best practices.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, supporting academic success, professional growth, and leadership development.
  • Support candidates in developing professional dispositions aligned with ethical, effective educational leadership.
  • Contribute to supervision of practicum, field-based experiences, and student-teaching, as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership within the School of Education through curriculum development, program assessment, student learning assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate actively in faculty governance, university committee work, and university and School of Education accreditation processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to strengthen educator preparation and leadership pathways.
  • Engage in scholarly, professional, or applied work consistent with a teaching-focused university, such as practitioner research, program evaluation, curriculum innovation, or professional presentations.
  • Remain current in educational research, policy, and leadership practices.
  • Contribute to the professional community through service, partnerships, or professional organizations.
