The Department of Health and Human Development invites applications for an Assistant professor from outstanding candidates who conduct critical, rigorous, theoretically grounded qualitative research on health and fitness. We seek a collaborative colleague who employs innovative and critical approaches in their teaching, advising/mentoring of students, and scholarship. Further, we seek a scholar whose work connections to our existing Health and Fitness programming and the growing number of critical scholars across the School of Education. The University of Pittsburgh offers undergraduate, MEd, EdD, and PhD degrees. Working collaboratively, the faculty have actively sought to advance equity and justice through teaching and learning, advising and mentoring of students, engaged collaborations, and scholarship. We seek to continue our momentum by having a scholar join the Health and Human Development faculty to: (1) advise undergraduate, master's and doctoral students in health and fitness; (2) teach online, hybrid, and in-person courses; and (3) contribute to curriculum design and development of certificate and micro-credential programs across the Department of Health and Human Development. The Candidate would join a vibrant community in the School of Education, at a time of great excitement, synergy, momentum, and action, particularly in relation to our explicit commitment to equity, justice, and innovation. As a School, we are committed to determining sustainable ways to disrupt long-standing patterns of inequity and injustice in education. To that purpose, we invite applicants who have deep qualitative knowledge and experience engaging in robust analyses of pressing issues related to health and fitness and who investigate ways to interrupt inequitable educational practices through their teaching, research, and community-engaged activities.
