About The Position

Teaches, advises, and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Advises and mentors EdD and master’s students, serves on graduate student dissertation committees, and maintains ongoing research and publication activities. Works collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook. Faculty are expected to adhere to the educational philosophy of the university and support and facilitate the department/program/college missions, visions, & long-term goals. Department Specific Essential Job Functions: Duties include teaching face-to-face/hybrid/online graduate courses in Educational Leadership during the day, evening, and weekends as needed; mentoring EdD students and serving on dissertation committees; and maintaining a record of scholarly activities and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will support and promote the department’s strong commitment to student success by supervising program interns and practicum students. The successful candidate will evaluate student performance and maintain department records in accordance with university and accreditation policies. In addition, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues, members of professional organizations, and community leaders in the field.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or a closely related field
  • ABD may be considered with the completion of a doctorate before the start date
  • Higher education teaching experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in online and face-to-face teaching and course development
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness/excellence
  • Experience in higher education research
  • Must be able to teach in a variety of instructional formats (in-person, hybrid, and online during the day, evening, and weekend at both on and off campus locations) as needed and appropriate
  • Must be able to maintain ongoing professional certifications in educational leadership
  • Must possess excellent communication, problem-solving, team-building, and organizational skills, as well as knowledge and experience in effective coaching, mentoring, supervision, and delegation
  • Able to comply with the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years of previous experience in K-12 school/district leadership or three years of mentoring/advising doctoral students and serving on dissertation committees is preferred for this position
  • Scholarly activities in the areas of school and district improvement or issues of K-12 budgeting and finance, law, education policy and/or related areas are also preferred
