About The Position

The Biotechnology and Bioentrepreneurship Program at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a two-year term Assistant Professor (“Teaching Professor”) in the field of molecular biology to begin August 2026, contingent upon funding approval, renewable according to program needs, budget, and satisfactory review. The University of San Francisco has a career ladder by which a Teaching Professor may apply for promotion to Associate Professor after six years. The faculty will also be a member of the Department of Biology.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
  • At least one year of teaching experience preferred
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching within a culturally diverse environment
  • Strong record of teaching at the university level
  • Evidence of scholarship
  • Understanding of and commitment to supporting the mission of the University of San Francisco

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory Biology courses (e.g. General Biology, Cell Physiology, and/or Genetics)
  • Teach Molecular Biology and an interdisciplinary Cell/Molecular Methods course
  • Teach upper division lab based courses (e.g. Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology and/or Advanced Research Methods) for the Professional Science Master’s in Biotechnology program as needed
  • Engage in service to the department and college
