About The Position

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning August 2026. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate courses in Mathematics, maintaining an active research agenda, and providing service to the university, community, and profession. Research and teaching expertise should complement existing faculty expertise. The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory mathematics courses, courses in the Core of the Mathematics major, and upper-division courses within at least one of the Mathematics Major Emphases. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that results in publications and contributes to advancing the department, university, profession, and society. The candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences is required. ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Full-time teaching responsibilities include teaching twenty-four credits of undergraduate mathematics courses per year.
  • Research expectations include publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national or regional conferences.
  • Serve as advisors/mentors to students and engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities.
  • Participate in committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels.
  • Participate in community organizations and the discipline as relevant to the candidate's expertise and interest.
  • Teach in-person and ensure materials are digitally accessible using standard technology platforms.
