About The Position

The University at Buffalo is seeking an Assistant Professor for a tenure-track position in Educational Leadership and Policy. This role focuses on research related to educational, social, and economic inequalities, particularly in the context of higher education. The successful candidate will engage in exemplary research, teach graduate-level courses, mentor students, and contribute to departmental service, all while promoting equity and inclusion in education.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in sociology, sociology of education, educational policy, economics of education, higher education, or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of success or potential for success in securing external funding to support research.
  • Demonstrated potential for research productivity via peer-reviewed scholarship in one or more of the desired areas.
  • Research agenda focused on enhancing opportunities and outcomes for underserved populations in higher education.
  • Commitment to caring mentorship of graduate students into teaching and academia, especially from and for underrepresented populations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct exemplary research leading to innovative ideas and publications in prominent scholarly outlets.
  • Pursue extramural funding for research initiatives.
  • Teach two courses per semester at the graduate level.
  • Advise and mentor graduate students, including chairing and serving on doctoral dissertation committees.
  • Support efforts to recruit Ed.M. and Ph.D. students.
  • Fulfill service responsibilities related to program, departmental, and university affiliations.
