About The Position

The Department of Biology at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position to begin August 2026. Applications are invited in the area of Bioinformatics. We are interested in candidates who develop and employ informatics and computational approaches to understand complex biological systems, ranging from microbial systems to humans, and from molecular to ecosystem levels.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Biology or a related discipline.
  • Post-doctoral experience.
  • Strong track record in the analysis of genomics, proteomics, or high-throughput biochemical data.
  • Experience in modeling complex biological systems using statistical, mathematical, and bioinformatics approaches.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Strong record of teaching at the university level.
  • Evidence of scholarship.
  • Understanding of and commitment to supporting the mission of the University of San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Dedicate to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Teach upper division courses in Bioinformatics and/or other topics in Biology.
  • Contribute to teaching General Biology, Genetics, or Evolution.
  • Teach courses in associated biotechnology graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • Apply for extramural funding to support research program.
  • Involve undergraduate researchers in research work.
  • Engage in service to the program and college.
