About The Position

The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University invites applications for a permanent, full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in Pullman, WA with a specialty in gender-based violence. Areas of scholarly expertise within gender-based violence are open, with a preference given to individuals with an interest and expertise in teaching research methods and/or quantitative data analysis. All applicants should clearly describe their area(s) of research and teaching interests. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2026. The successful applicant is expected to conduct research and teach in the areas of criminal justice and criminology and to perform service to the department, college, university, and broader discipline. In terms of teaching, the successful applicant is expected to teach undergraduate introductory and upper-division courses as well as graduate level courses within the Criminal Justice and Criminology curriculum on the Pullman campus. They may also teach online undergraduate classes. The teaching load is two courses per semester (2/2) representing 40% of the position, with 40% devoted to research and scholarly publication productivity and 20% devoted to service.

Requirements

  • Completed Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related discipline by the time of appointment; a J.D. alone is not sufficient for this position
  • Demonstrated record of, or potential for, research/scholarship in the areas of Gender-based Violence, Criminal Justice and Criminology
  • Demonstrated record of, or potential for successful teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Demonstrated record of supporting, or potential to support, access and opportunity in research, teaching, and service in alignment with WSU’s land-grant mission
