The Department of Entomology (https://ent.uga.edu) at the University of Georgia (UGA) invites applications for a tenure-track position (9 months) in row crop integrated pest management (IPM) with emphasis on cotton at the Assistant Professor rank. The position is budgeted at 65% research, 30% Extension, and 5% service. We seek candidates with expertise in IPM and expertise and/or interest in sustainable production of row crops. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research and extension program supported by competitive external funding, to publish high impact research, and to effectively mentor graduate/undergraduate students. A collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to solving important problems within the cotton industry that strengthens and complements the current programs in the department and college is expected. Multistate and international collaborations are also encouraged. Cooperative projects with the UGA Cotton Team and multistate collaborations are encouraged. Extension responsibilities will include communicating effectively with row crop producers, extension agents, and other stakeholders to translate research results using traditional and digital media. The successful candidate is expected to be active in departmental and university service, professional activities, and outreach. Anticipated start date is August 3, 2026. This position is located in the Department of Entomology, UGA-Tifton Campus, Tifton, Georgia. The UGA-Tifton campus is home to 90 scientists and more than 400 support staff across 9 departments in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. On-campus resources include office, laboratory, greenhouse and rearing space, multiple research farms, and required agricultural machinery.
