About The Position

The Department of Operations and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning in August of 2026. We are seeking a dedicated educator to teach cross disciplinary construction, safety/risk control, and organizational leadership-related courses using applied-learning instructional techniques. The successful candidate will become part of an innovative and supportive community that prioritizes excellence in teaching and active student engagement. As a polytechnic university, we emphasize experiential learning by providing students with authentic experiences in classroom, laboratory and industrial settings, both in-person and online. Our state-of-the-art facilities and associated equipment enable applied research with physical materials, building information management systems, metal casting, welding, fabrication/product development, risk assessments, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics. Scholarly and service activities are supported by both internal and external grants for professional development, student/faculty research and dissemination.

Requirements

  • ABD or Doctorate in Risk Control/Safety Management, Emergency Management, Construction Management, Organizational Leadership, Operations Research, or a closely related field by employment start date
  • Five (5) years of business/industry experience spanning various aspects of construction safety/risk control, building construction methods, and/or operations/leadership management
  • Previous teaching of students and/or industry training of employees

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as a CSP, CIH, ARM, etc.
  • Earned or able to obtain an OSHA 500 Construction Industry Trainer Certification by 8/17/2026

Responsibilities

  • Teach and develop undergraduate/graduate courses (online, hybrid and in-person) in construction risk control/safety, emergency management, operations, and management as needed.
  • Provide undergraduate/graduate student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning outcomes. This includes contributing to academic program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes in collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Advise graduate students in researching/developing their capstone project.
  • Participate in service activities within the department, college, university, and broader community.
  • Perform self-driven research.
