About The Position

The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is seeking a full-time tenure-line faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor in Public Health, beginning in the fall semester of 2025. This role is designed for individuals focused on Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) and/or the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). The successful candidate will engage in teaching public health courses, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that emphasizes innovative teaching and research in health sciences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Public Health or a related field with a focus on learning and success in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in designing, teaching, coordinating, and assessing public health courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Commitment to the scholarship of teaching and student learning and/or discipline-based education research.
  • Expertise in Public Health, particularly in health policy and administration, health disparities, or environmental health.
  • Teaching experience and scholarly work appropriate for rank and tenure/tenure-track status.

Responsibilities

  • Teach public health and interdisciplinary courses in UMR's Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree program.
  • Develop new courses in the candidate's area of expertise as needed.
  • Coordinate and assess public health courses and curricular-related programs at the undergraduate level.
  • Engage in research focused on learning and success in higher education, particularly in the context of public health education.
  • Collaborate with a public health teaching team and interdisciplinary teams to enhance educational outcomes.
