About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Rhode Island College invites applications for one three-year limited term, Assistant Professor position for Fall 2025. We invite applicants from a wide range of psychological disciplines with preference for the following areas (broadly defined): cognitive psychology, human learning, human development, diversity science, or behavioral health. The faculty member’s primary responsibilities will involve teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in at least one of the following areas: cognitive psychology, human learning, human development (child and/or aging), human diversity, or behavioral health (clinical or non-clinical focus). They will also have the opportunity to teach new courses relevant to their area of expertise. Additional responsibilities will include teaching foundational psychology courses such as introductory psychology, research methods, or statistics courses. The Department of Psychology is an active teaching and scholarly group of 14 faculty members who serve approximately 500 undergraduate majors and 12 graduate students. We offer undergraduate bachelor’s degrees in both Psychology (BA) and in Behavioral Health Studies (BS), minors in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, and an MA degree in General Psychology with a research focus (with a 5-year BA/MA option). We welcome applications from candidates who will contribute to these programs.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology or related field.
  • ABD may be considered if degree will be completed by time of appointment.
  • Candidates who have an earned master’s degree or equivalent and are pursuing a terminal degree but who have not yet completed their terminal degree by the date of appointment may be considered for appointment at the rank of instructor.
