About The Position

The Department of Psychology at the University of North Dakota (UND) is searching to fill a tenure-track faculty line in Psychology at the Assistant Professor rank and Director of the Indians into Psychology Doctoral Education (INPSYDE) program to begin in the Fall of 2026, contingent upon availability of funding. Candidates should have expertise in any area of Clinical Psychology, specifically, Indigenous Mental Health. We seek candidates who demonstrate potential for securing external funding and have experience working collaboratively with interdisciplinary partners, specifically indigenous populations. The new hire will be uniquely qualified to provide valuable cultural guidance and leadership to any efforts by UND to enhance and expand its research partnerships with area tribes, as well as all indigenous research within the university. The Department of Psychology is an academic unit in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Dakota. It serves approximately 18 full-time faculty members, approximately 460 undergraduate majors, 300 minors, and 185 graduate students, with programs in Clinical (APA-accredited), Experimental, and Forensic Psychology. A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program (complete by August 15, 2026), strong evidence of scholarly productivity and potential for establishing a funded research program, and evidence of teaching effectiveness are required. Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with diverse groups is preferred. Promotion in this position will be tied to success in establishing and maintaining a strong, externally fundable research program, and excelling in teaching. Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology by August 15, 2026.
  • Licensed/License Eligible in North Dakota.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity in clinical psychology.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  • Experience with and/or across native communities.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Ability to produce peer-reviewed publications within the area of clinical research expertise and seek external grant funds.
  • Ability to teach a mix of online and on-campus courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability and willingness to supervise graduate students (including clinical supervision of our graduate students in our training clinic) and contribute to service within the department, college, university, and/or community.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong evidence of scholarly productivity in clinical psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a mix of online and on-campus courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and supervise graduate students (including clinical supervision of graduate students working in our training clinic).
  • Direct the Indians into Psychology Doctoral Education (INPSYDE) Program.
