The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science (MPCS) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Physics, intended to begin August 15, 2026. Expectations for this position include consistently delivering effective teaching, incorporating pedagogical strategies to improve student learning, and contributing to the advancement of teaching through professional activities. The Department of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science (MPCS) has 31 full-time faculty members, including six teaching physics. We value excellent teaching and personalized student support to help students achieve their goals, whether the goal is to enter a career or to continue their education.

  • Teach physics courses as assigned by the academic unit head, including Concepts in Physics, Introductory Physics, Algebra-based General Physics, Calculus based College Physics, Introductory Astronomy, Sustainable Energy and associated labs.
  • Maintain a standard teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Teach in-person classes, which may include evening courses, and some classes may also be offered with online, hybrid or hyflex options.
  • Use the university course management system (Canvas) and other relevant classroom technologies.
  • Hold regular office hours to meet with students.
  • Engage in physics and/or physics education research and other professional activities, including attending workshops/seminars/conferences, presenting at workshops/seminars/conferences, and publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in service such as committee service, academic advising, and other activities that enhance the mission of the Department, College, University and/or contribute to Community Service.
  • Master's degree in Physics, Physics Education, or related field.
  • One (1) academic year of teaching experience in physics at the College/University level, which could have been as a teaching assistant, adjunct, or full-time faculty.
