About The Position

Missouri Western State University's College of Science and Health, in partnership with the Department of Health Professions, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Strength and Conditioning. This position may be filled as either a non-tenure track Professor of Practice or a tenure-track Assistant Professor, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. We seek an energetic and collaborative educator with the ability to serve as the Program Director for the Strength and Conditioning program, teaching undergraduate courses, supporting curriculum development for a newly launched concentration, and assisting in guiding the program toward CASCE accreditation. In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing Missouri Western's mission as the state's applied learning university as well as advancing the strategic growth of the program through innovative instruction, student mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strong ties with industry and community partners. You'll help design and deliver hands-on, project-based learning experiences that prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving landscape. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
  • To be considered for the tenure-track Assistant Professor, candidate must have a completed doctorate; ABD will be considered.
  • NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Credential required.
  • Industry experience in a strength and conditioning-related role.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability and/or strong interest in applying industry knowledge to teaching.
  • Prior experience in program development in aligning CASCE accreditation standards to training the workforce.
  • Record of professional engagement.
  • Familiarity with instructional technologies (online & hybrid formats)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate disciplinary and professional expertise, with commitment to staying current in strength and conditioning field
  • Develop, maintain, and teach courses in the department's undergraduate programs using a student-centered, applied learning approach.
  • Contribute to program development and Council on Accreditation of Strength and Conditioning Education (CASCE) accreditation efforts.
  • Engage in meaningful service, including academic advising, committee participation, and community or industry outreach
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and professional matters
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned
