About The Position

Young Harris College invites applications for either an Assistant Professor or Instructor of Kinesiology and Sport. This is a 10-month full-time faculty appointment. The successful candidate will serve as a dynamic and innovative educator with a strong commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. Program collaboration, strategic planning, and leadership through strong written and oral communications skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have experience fostering and facilitating research opportunities for undergraduate students. Young Harris College is a private baccalaureate and master's degree-granting institution located in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia. Requirements

  • A Masters or Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field. Significant industry experience may be considered.
  • A commitment to teaching innovation and excellence at the college level.
  • Demonstrated success in program collaboration, curriculum development, and assessment.
  • Evidence of scholarship and research relevant to undergraduate research opportunities and experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 4 classes, 12-credit load, for both Fall and Spring semesters in undergraduate level courses for Kinesiology and Sport majors. Classes within the curriculum include the following: Introduction to Kinesiology, Personal Training Concepts, Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Nutrition for Physical Performance, Exercise Physiology, Motor Learning & Behavior, and Biomechanics of Sports.
  • Advising and mentorship for majors in the Kinesiology and Sport program.
  • Engagement in scholarship in candidate's area of expertise with emphasis on fostering and facilitating undergraduate student research opportunities.
  • Institutional service through committee work.
