The School of Music at Marshall University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2024. Primary responsibilities include: teaching applied violin and viola students recruiting for the strings area coaching string chamber ensembles keeping an active professional performance profile As a secondary area of specialization, the successful candidate should be adept at teaching music theory and aural skills courses and could be asked to teach courses in music education and/or to conduct the orchestra, depending on the strengths of the candidate and school needs. The School of Music also seeks candidates who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum and its emphasis on using high-impact teaching practices, particularly those affiliated with one (or more) of the institution’s pedagogical initiatives (e.g., Community-based Learning, Critical Thinking, First Year Seminar, Writing Across Curriculum, etc.). Additionally, the ideal candidate will contribute to the College’s support of interdisciplinary programs of study. Doctoral degree in Music ( ABD considered) with professional performance experience and evidence of successful recruitment and teaching.
