About The Position

The College of Engineering seeks an experienced Professor of Practice in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to lead the development and delivery of industry-relevant AI curriculum, microcredentialing programs, and applied workforce training for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. This is a 12-month, practice-focused faculty position emphasizing curriculum innovation, AI laboratory development, industry engagement, and hands-on teaching. Please Note: The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field
  • Two years of Teaching or professional training experience
  • Significant industry experience applying AI technologies.
  • Experience translating industry practices into academic curriculum.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience developing microcredentials or professional training programs.
  • Experience with cloud AI platforms or MLOps.
  • Experience managing instructional labs.
  • Established industry network.

Responsibilities

  • AI Curriculum Development & Instruction Design, develop, and deliver industry-relevant AI curricula for undergraduate and graduate engineering programs
  • Develop applied courses in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, data engineering, and AI for engineering applications
  • Employ hands-on, project-based, and experiential learning methodologies
  • Integrate real-world datasets, industry tools, and cloud-based AI platforms into coursework
  • Microcredentialing & Workforce Readiness Design and implement industry-aligned AI microcredentialing programs, badges, and certificates
  • Ensure microcredentials align with workforce needs and employer expectations
  • Collaborate with industry partners to co-develop curriculum and applied projects
  • Support stackable credentials for students and working professionals
  • AI Laboratory Development & Management Lead the development, operation, and continuous modernization of an AI instructional laboratory
  • Specify and manage AI-related hardware, software, and cloud infrastructure
  • Establish lab policies, procedures, and instructional use guidelines
  • Industry Engagement & Partnerships Build and maintain partnerships with industry, government, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Engage industry professionals in teaching, mentoring, and applied projects.
  • Facilitate internships, capstone projects, and workforce pipelines.
  • Service & Program Development Contribute to program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement
  • Support strategic initiatives related to AI and workforce development
  • Mentor students pursuing applied AI careers
  • Performs other duties as assigned
