The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of statistics, beginning Fall Semester 2019. While all areas of statistics will be considered, preference will be given to candidates having expertise in areas such as statistical learning, Bayesian inference, computational statistics, longitudinal data analysis, reliability, and survival analysis. Responsibilities of this position include teaching, research, and service to the university. For this appointment, candidates must have a Ph.D. in statistics or biostatistics (or its requirements completed by August 2019). The primary selection criteria will be an applicant’s potential for quality research and effective teaching in support of the Department’s instructional responsibilities. Amongst applicants who are found highly qualified with respect to these criteria, preference will be given to those with strong research potential and evidence of experiences and/or potential in developing research links, funding, and student internships with industry and/or government. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
