About The Position

The sociology program at Nazareth University of Rochester, NY invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin fall 2026. The candidate will teach courses that count toward both the sociology major and the university's Technology, AI, and Society major. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in using engaging, student-centered, and inclusive best-practices in undergraduate teaching pedagogy. Requirements

  • Experience and/or expertise and interest in teaching courses such as Technology & Society, Qualitative Research Methods, and Introduction to Sociology is required.
  • Other teaching expectations would include electives related to technology, inequality and/or media & popular culture.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD or ABD in sociology is required.

Responsibilities

  • The teaching load is four courses per semester (generally three preparations with one double section) with a maximum class size of 35.
  • This position requires in-person teaching, but some hybrid or online courses may be proposed by the candidate in response to student interest and needs.
