About The Position

Assistant Professor of Sociology. Tenure track, nine-month position. Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Starting date: September 1, 2026. We seek applicants with evidence of successful teaching and scholarship in sociology to join a vibrant interdisciplinary academic unit with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Areas of specialization are open, but preference will be given to those with expertise in criminology. In addition to introductory and methods courses, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach a broad range of elective courses within the sociology major, as well as contribute to the development of an interdisciplinary MA program in media studies. The normal teaching load is three courses per quarter. A strong commitment to exemplary teaching at the undergraduate level, scholarship/research activity, and good interpersonal and collegial skills are expected. The School of Human Inquiry offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science, History, and Sociology, as well as minors in Geography and Philosophy.
