The Department of Sociology at the State University of New York at Geneseo is pleased to have the opportunity to welcome a new colleague to our faculty. Applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2025 are invited. We seek candidates with expertise in criminal justice and criminology, with secondary areas in social psychology or public health, who will also be able to contribute to our core curricular needs (introduction, social problems, statistics, methods, theory). The Sociology Department has a strong tradition of excellent undergraduate teaching, a commitment to broad training in Sociological theory and research, and an understanding of the discipline as committed to fostering critical thinking about social inequalities and the challenges confronting the pursuit of social justice. The Sociology Department offers a BA in Sociology and maintains strong ties to a variety of interdisciplinary programs across the college, including Legal Studies, Carceral Studies, American Studies, Women's and Gender Studies, Sociomedical Sciences, and Conflict Studies.
