About The Position

The Department of Human Behavior, Justice, and Diversity at the University of Wisconsin-Superior invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work. The department is seeking individuals who will provide excellent undergraduate instruction, incorporate current techniques in teaching and research, contribute to administrative responsibilities and work collaboratively to enhance the social work program.

Requirements

  • One of the following three education qualifications is required: 1.) An earned M.S.W. or M.S.S.W. from an accredited social work program, plus a minimum of two years of post-master’s social work practice experience. 2.) An earned doctorate in Social Work from an accredited institution. 3.) A doctorate in a related discipline and an earned M.S.W. or M.S.S.W. from an accredited social work program, plus a minimum of two years of post-master’s social work practice experience.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching or learning in an online environment.
  • Eligible for licensure in Wisconsin or Minnesota

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in building community partnerships and program development.
  • Work and volunteer history aligned with the mission of the UW-Superior Social Work Program .
  • Demonstrated ability to teach broadly across the social work curriculum.
  • Experience with field instruction and/or supervision.
  • Seven plus years of direct field experience in social services with individuals, families, and/or groups.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction of 12 credits or the equivalent per semester in the field of social work in any of the curriculum areas: methods of practice (interviewing, assessment, groups, families, research, and policy advocacy) special topics (Crisis Intervention, Trauma-Informed Care, Addictions) and field instruction.
  • Student advisement.
  • Program or Field coordination, development, and maintenance.
  • Service to the University, including program, departmental and campus committee work.
  • Engagement in professional and public service.
  • Engagement in research/scholarly activity and continuing education.
  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
