Dalton State College School of Health Professions seeks a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor of Social Work. Faculty workload at Dalton State College consists of the following five components: (1) teaching, (2) student success, (3) research/scholarship/creative activity or academic achievement, (4) professional service to the institution or community, and (5) professional growth. Other duties include advising and mentoring students, keeping office hours, developing curriculum, assessment of student learning, providing service to the campus and community, and undertaking professional development. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, off-campus, or online courses. Summer teaching may be available on a competitive basis. Position beginning August 1, 2026. Must have a master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program and a minimum of five years' practice experience. LMSW licensure required. LCSW licensure or licensure eligible highly preferred. PhD or DSW in social work desired. Teaching experience in a higher education setting strongly desired. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. The Dalton State Social Work program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. This position should be a clinician able to teach across the BSW curriculum and specifically generalist micro practice courses. This program is on campus, and this position is not an online teaching role. Review of the applicants will begin October 9, 2025 through January 1, 2026. Position will remain open until filled. Minimum salary $59,000. Salary commensurate with education level and experience.

  • Teach undergraduate social work courses primarily micro-practice courses with a minimum of 4/3 loads (9-16 credit hours per semester).
  • Accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery.
  • Assess student competency as part of the position responsibilities (for both SACS and CSWE).
  • Advise BSW students.
  • Serve on faculty committees at the College and School and participate in community initiatives.
  • Engage in other appropriate service and professional activities as needed.
  • Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program.
  • Five years post-MSW practice experience as a generalist social worker primarily at the micro-level.
  • LMSW licensure in good standing in the state of Georgia or Tennessee.
  • Understanding of and ability to teach and uphold the National Association of Social Workers ethical standards and the Council on Social Work Education Professional Competencies.
  • DSW or PhD in social work.
  • College classroom teaching experience in a generalist social work program.
  • Familiarity with the Council on Social Work Education accreditation standards.
  • LCSW licensure in the state of Georgia or Tennessee or licensure eligible in immediate future.
