The Department of Human Ecology at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Social Work beginning Fall 2025. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development. The Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) program, housed in the Department of Human Ecology, is in the process of creating an MSW program. The HDFS program uses life span and ecological perspectives to study human development, family dynamics, and relationships. Our applied program emphasizes building professional helping skills related to interviewing, assessing, case management, family life education, public policy, and intervention and prevention programming in human service agencies. We are also in the process of developing CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) microcredentials. We have recently developed community partnering with local human service agencies around Direct Support Professionals (DSP) microcredentials. The HDFS program enrolls approximately 100 students and employs five full-time faculty. Including HDFS, the Department of Human Ecology has a total of 372 students and 17 full-time faculty. Other majors in the department include Fashion and Textiles, Food Service and Restaurant Administration, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Human Development and Family Studies is an approved program for the Certified Family Life Educator credential through the National Council on Family Relations.
