About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Amherst College is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in developmental psychology, starting July 1, 2025. This role is designed for candidates who possess a PhD in developmental psychology and have a strong commitment to teaching and an active research program. The successful candidate will engage with bright undergraduates from diverse backgrounds, particularly focusing on research related to adolescence and/or emerging adulthood. The position requires the development and teaching of courses such as introductory psychology, developmental psychology, and an advanced seminar. Additionally, the candidate will supervise honors projects and contribute to the overall academic environment of the psychology department and the college. The teaching load is set at two courses per semester. Amherst College is recognized as one of the most selective and diverse liberal arts colleges in the United States, with nearly half of its students identifying as domestic students of color and a significant percentage being first-generation college students.
