About The Position

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychological Science with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. The area of specialization is Community Psychology and all areas of focus within that specialization. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Requirements

• A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Psychology or a related discipline earned by start date.
• Evidence of promoting student success.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the university level.
• Demonstrated record of research and scholarship within the discipline.

Nice To Haves

• Specialization in Community Psychology.
• Ability to teach courses related to their specialization (e.g., clinical and counseling, cross-cultural, developmental, educational, ethnic minority, health, psychopathology, social), in addition to research methods and statistics.
• Knowledge and skills in executing community-integrated teaching, research, and/or service.
• Effectiveness in teaching in different modalities (i.e., face-to-face, online, hybrid).
• Effectiveness in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
• Effectiveness in publishing scholarship in reputable outlets.
• Experience/potential in securing external funding.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrated record of impactful, applied research and teaching excellence.
• Teach courses in their area of specialization and courses that are part of the required core in the psychology major.
• Standard teaching load is 9 credit hours (i.e., 3 courses) per semester, negotiable depending on research intensity.
• Engage in programmatic research that results in publications in refereed journals and secure extramural funding.
• Strong commitment to undergraduate education and mentorship.
• Service to the Department, College, University, and/or profession.
