About The Position

The School of Information Studies at Louisiana State University announces the availability of two full-time Assistant Professors of Professional Practice position to teach graduate courses in Library & Information Science (LIS) with a focus in archival studies, librarianship, or records & information management. The candidate will have a commitment to teaching excellence and service to the profession. These are 12-month appointments and may be renewed annually. The starting date is negotiable.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science or equivalent with 0-1 teaching experience

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Information Studies or equivalent with less than a year teaching experience
  • Experience teaching university LIS graduate-level courses online
  • Professional experience in LIS

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Teach online graduate courses to support the graduate programs in the School of Information Studies. The teaching load is ten (10) courses per calendar year: eight (8) courses per academic year (4 per semester) and two (2) courses per summer term.
  • Service: Serve on appropriate School, College, University, and Professional committees; attendance at affiliated professional conferences; and fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
