The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Western New England University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice position, beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Aerospace Controls, Flight Mechanics, Flight Vehicle Design, or other related Aerospace fields. Industry experience is a definite plus. The successful candidate is expected to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in both Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, provide service to the department, and support undergraduate and graduate projects and our innovative first year engineering program. The teaching load is 12 credits each semester or 24 credits each year. We seek outstanding candidates with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, mentoring, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to: Show strong commitment to teaching excellence and student mentorship Supervise student projects/research at the undergraduate and graduate levels Establish collaborative relations with local/national industries through industry-sponsored research and projects Contribute to curriculum development and accreditation activities Provide service to the department, college, university, and professional community The position is scheduled to start at the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester.
