About The Position

Purdue University is seeking a practitioner or scholar of sports communication, sports public relations, or sports marketing for a faculty position in Indianapolis at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. The candidate for this non-tenure-track faculty position will be teaching and mentoring undergraduate students interested in Sports Communication at Purdue's Indianapolis location. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester; teaching assignments will include topics such as sports communication, sports content creation, and sports professions. There is no research requirement, but there could be some supervision of internships. As home not only to various major and minor league sports franchises but also the NCAA and other national amateur sports unions, Purdue's Indianapolis location provides opportunities in sports communication for experiences, guest speakers, and internships. Candidates should consider how they might take advantage of these opportunities in their teaching and engagement, as students increasingly seek employment in this field. Purdue University is a public research university leading with excellence at scale. Ranked among top 10 public universities in the United States, Purdue discovers, disseminates and deploys knowledge with a quality and at a scale second to none. More than 107,000 students study at Purdue across multiple campuses, locations and modalities, including more than 58,000 at our main campus locations in West Lafayette and Indianapolis. Committed to affordability and accessibility, Purdue's main campus has frozen tuition 14 years in a row.
