About The Position

The Assistant Professor of Practice provides instructional, programmatic, and professional leadership support for the Chevron Engineering Leadership Academy. This position is designed to deliver practice-based leadership instruction, mentor undergraduate students, and support applied learning experiences aligned with industry and workforce needs. Please Note: The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Engineering, Engineering Management, Leadership Studies, Education, or a closely related field; or a Master’s degree with significant industry leadership experience appropriate for a Professor of Practice appointment.
  • Five years of Leadership Academy experience.
  • Knowledge of leadership development and student learning.
  • Ability to teach and mentor student populations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and industry partners.

Nice To Haves

  • University-level teaching experience; experience working with industry partners.
  • Experience developing leadership or professional development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Curriculum Development: Teach undergraduate and/or graduate leadership-related courses; develop leadership curriculum, modules, micro-credentials, and certificate programs aligned with engineering leadership competencies.
  • Undergraduate Research & Applied Learning: Mentor undergraduate students in applied research, leadership capstone projects, internships, and experiential learning activities related to engineering leadership.
  • Program Development & Assessment: Support program planning, implementation, assessment, data collection, and continuous improvement for the Chevron Engineering Leadership Academy.
  • Student Advising & Engagement: Advise and mentor student cohorts and leadership teams; support student organizations aligned with leadership and professional development goals.
  • Service & Industry Engagement: Participate in service activities, industry engagement, workshops, speaker series, and committees relevant to the Academy and College.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
