The Department of Physics in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics focusing on neuroscience and/or biophysics, to start in August 2026. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. Ideal candidates will have a strong record of impactful research in quantitative systems neuroscience, statistical physics of living systems, brain-gut-microbiome interactions, computational/theoretical neuro/bio, advanced machine learning/data analytics, microbial biophysics, or molecular biophysics. Potential for building productive collaborations with existing neuroscience/biophysics labs in the department and beyond is valued. Successful candidates will also be expected to have strong commitment to mentoring and teaching graduate and undergraduate students and the service efforts of the university. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
