About The Position

The College of Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center invites applications for a full-time, 12-month tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. We seek a highly motivated research-intensive scientist with a strong commitment to scholarly excellence, collaborative science, teaching, and mentoring. The successful candidate will establish and sustain an externally funded research program and contribute to teaching in our undergraduate (B.S.), professional (Pharm.D.), and graduate (M.S., Ph.D.) programs. Additional responsibilities include service to the Department, College, University, and broader scientific community, in alignment with institutional mission and strategic priorities. Research Environment The UNM College of Pharmacy is consistently ranked among the top colleges of pharmacy in NIH funding and is part of a vibrant research community within the UNM Health Sciences Center—the state's largest integrated academic health complex. Faculty benefit from extensive collaborative opportunities, including: Three NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs): Metals in Biology & Medicine; Autophagy, Inflammation & Metabolism; and Brain & Behavioral Health An NIH-funded P42 Superfund Research Program and a P50 Health Disparities Center Partnerships with the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, School of Medicine, Clinical & Translational Science Center, and Biomedical Engineering. Requirements

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Materials Science, Nanomedicine, or a closely related biomedical/health sciences discipline.
  • A record of research productivity evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • An innovative and independent research vision that complements existing strengths in environmental health, drug delivery, immunotherapy, immunotoxicology, or biomedical engineering.
  • Experience in translational research, interdisciplinary collaboration, or team science, especially within academic–industry partnerships.
  • Evidence of ability or strong potential to obtain extramural funding.
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed publication.
  • Evidence of leadership and ability to contribute to a highly collaborative academic environment.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
