About The Position

The Springfield College Department of Occupational Therapy invites applications for a full-time nine-month tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, beginning in January 2026. The Occupational Therapy Department offers a five-year combined baccalaureate and master's program, a 5.5 year combined baccalaureate and entry-level OTD program, an entry-level master's degree program, and an entry-level OTD program. The MSOT program has been accredited by ACOTE since 1991, and the OTD program received full accreditation in December 2024. The OT program currently has 8 full-time faculty. The mission of the Occupational Therapy Department is to prepare professionals for leadership in the use of human occupation to promote people's participation in meaningful life roles and activities. In addition to Occupational Therapy, the School of Health Sciences includes programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Science, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Public Health, and Social Work. The school is housed in the spectacular new Brown Cooper Health Sciences Center, with stellar facilities, including an interprofessional simulation suite featuring all-new high-fidelity simulation and standardized participant programming; a maker space enabling a vast array of creative projects supporting health and wellness; an activities of daily living suite to promote real-life applications of rehabilitation practices; a spacious sunlit human anatomy lab; and technology-supported classrooms and conference rooms. Interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, engaged student learning, as well as global, intergenerational, and multicultural perspectives are priorities of the School. Requirements

  • Candidates are required to hold an earned doctorate degree (ABD will be considered) in occupational therapy or a related area awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience
  • Initial certification as an occupational therapist
  • Eligibility for OT licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, leadership skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
