About The Position

Supports and carries out many program functions throughout the nursing curriculum, including, but not limited to classroom and clinical teaching as assigned, student recruitment and advising, committee membership, curriculum development and implementation, and program assessment. Concentrates activities in teaching and additionally emphasizes scholarship in practice or in research, seeking collaboration as indicated with skilled practitioners and/or colleagues in nursing or related fields.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing is required.
  • Earned Doctoral Degree in Nursing (preferred) or related field from a regionally accredited university.
  • Active license as an RN or APRN in SC (or other compact state).
  • Three years clinical practice as a professional nurse in an acute care setting.
  • Experience in incorporating simulation into the nursing curriculum.
  • Preference for prior teaching experience in a pre-licensure baccalaureate program.
  • Recognized professional merit in nursing, and/or familiarity with the Neuman Systems Model.
  • Ability to support the goals and mission of the College and the Department of Nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in a pre-licensure baccalaureate program.
  • Familiarity with the Neuman Systems Model.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 12-15 credit hours per semester of nursing courses (lecture, laboratory, and clinical).
  • Utilize nursing knowledge, skill areas, and instructional theory in teaching.
  • Serve as a departmental member and seek opportunities for scholarly contributions.
  • Comply with the South Carolina Board of Nursing, CCNE, and SACS criteria.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and be an active member of the Nursing Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Nursing and Health Science.
