The Department for the Performing Arts at SUNY Geneseo is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Music with primary teaching duties in the area of woodwind and/or brass studio instruction, jazz ensemble directing, and one additional area of expertise. Studio teaching would include instruction on trumpet, trombone, clarinet, or saxophone, while additional areas of expertise might include music education (instrumental methods), conducting, music technology, jazz composition and arranging, and wind ensemble conducting. The department offers a B.A. in Music with tracks in Performance, History/Theory/Criticism/Composition, Jazz and American Music, Music Recording and Production. The department also offers a B.F.A. and B.A. in Musical Theatre and a B.A. in Theatre. Students from other majors actively participate in department ensembles, productions, and in a wide variety of general education courses. The highly-qualified faculty sustain active profiles in performance and scholarship; applications are sought from candidates who will enhance the department's strengths in teaching and creative activity.
