The Department of Music in the Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music with duties to include teaching music history and applied music to begin August 2026. As a faculty member in the Department of Music, you will be expected to 1. Teach the three-semester undergraduate music history sequence; 2. Teach applied lessons in your area of strength; 3. Teach in other areas commensurate with experience and education; 4. Develop a record of research/creative activity; 5. Recruit students for the applied area and the Department of Music; and 6. Assess students, hold office hours, and engage in department, college, and university service. The Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts encompasses undergraduate programs in art, mass communication, music, and theatre. Emphasis is placed on applying classroom learning to process and performance. The Department of Music at Midwestern State University, a National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) accredited institution, offers four undergraduate degrees-the Bachelor of Music in Performance, the Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification, the Bachelor of Musical Arts, and the Bachelor of Arts in Music to a student population of approximately 60 majors.
