The Department of History invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2026, contingent upon the availability of authorized funding. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate curriculum through teaching in the field of Modern World History. Candidates should be prepared to situate Modern Europe in a Global Context. The successful candidate will teach broad survey courses in European, and Asian or African History that focus on colonialism, empire, and global connections. The candidate will also develop upper- and graduate-level courses in their area of specialization. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to: Advise undergraduate History majors and, as appropriate, graduate students Maintain an active program of scholarly research appropriate for a tenure-track appointment at a comprehensive public university Participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels Effective teaching, scholarly productivity, and meaningful service are required for retention, promotion, and tenure.
