About The Position

Oglethorpe University seeks applications for its Assistant Professor of Mathematics (tenure-track) position to begin August 2026. The successful candidates will join five faculty as a contributing member of the Mathematics faculty. We strive to provide a collegial, egalitarian, supportive, and healthy work environment. As such, our new faculty partners can expect that your Mathematics colleagues will happily provide mentorship and support (e.g. course materials, guidance on performance reviews, etc.) in the transition to a new work environment. Additionally, our new faculty will have full voices into programmatic decision-making concerning Mathematics, such as curriculum development, promotion of our disciplines across campus, development of new tracks and related majors, and program assessment.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely-related field.
• Comfortable teaching across the spectrum of undergraduate mathematics courses.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or qualifications in Computer Science or Actuarial Science.
• Ability to teach courses in computer or actuarial science.

Responsibilities

• Teach foundational, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate mathematics courses.
• Teach in the Core program through the regular offering of Mathematics and Human Nature, a required course for all undergraduates.
• Participate in programmatic decision-making concerning Mathematics, including curriculum development and program assessment.
