About The Position
Angelo State University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mass Media to join the Communication and Mass Media department. This full-time position involves teaching a 4/4 course load in the undergraduate mass media program. The successful candidate will play a vital role in contributing to the undergraduate mass media major, guiding students through various mass media and journalism courses, and providing academic advising. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to serve on departmental and university committees, engage in research or creative activities, and fulfill other related duties as assigned. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching a range of mass media courses, including but not limited to writing for mass media, news reporting and writing, media literacy, and media law. The role also includes conducting scholarly or creative activities that contribute to the department's mission and advising undergraduate students to support their academic and professional development. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and a passion for mentoring students in the field of mass media. Candidates should possess a record of scholarly or creative activity, along with experience in university teaching and mentorship. The position is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to curriculum development, particularly in the areas of broadcast and multimedia journalism, and who have an interest in supervising student-led media initiatives, such as a student newspaper.
