About The Position

The Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is pleased to announce that it is currently seeking applicants for a full-time appointment to its Legal Process (Legal Research and Writing) faculty starting in August 2026. Legal Process is a six-credit first-year course. Students receive three credits in the fall semester and three credits in the spring semester. In addition to the standard focus on predictive writing in the fall and persuasive writing in the spring, students are introduced to client interviewing. They are also introduced to client counseling and/or negotiation.

  • Performs faculty administrative responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook
  • Knowledge of Canvas
  • Knowledge of Zoom and other online communication tools
  • Travel for conferences and professional development
  • Extensive use of computers
  • Extensive time sitting and standing
  • Able to lift up to 5 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school preferred
  • Preference for both legal practice and teaching experience
  • An established record or promise of excellence in teaching legal research and writing

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach graduate law student courses in a physical classroom and/or a virtual classroom
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, assessments, final examinations, assignments, and handouts
  • Timely grade student assessments
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students
  • Stay current in and continually strive to improve teaching skills and expertise in the subjects that they teach
  • Stay informed of changes in the law and pedagogical practices in legal research and writing
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
  • Engage in legal research and produce legal scholarship, as appropriate to the position
  • Commit to service to legal education and to the wider community
  • Engage in the intellectual life of the Law Center, which includes significant service to the Law Center
  • Participate on faculty committees
  • Attend faculty meetings and Law Center events
  • Participate in service outside the Law Center, appropriate to the position
