About The Position

Texas A&M University-Texarkana will pursue an aggressive program growth agenda over the next five (5) years, including program accreditation. The Assistant Professor of Kinesiology will be responsible for teaching courses in the Kinesiology curriculum and program development. The appointment will be for a 9-month faculty position, teaching 3 courses (9 SCH) each semester, with the possibility of up to 2 courses in the summer, based on programming needs. The position starts in Fall 2026. The application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire. No pre-employment sponsorship is authorized for this position.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree: PhD or EdD. in Kinesiology or Exercise Sciences, ABD will be considered at the rank of Lecturer if a doctoral/terminal degree is not conferred by the hire date.
  • At least two (2) years of Kinesiology teaching experience at a higher education institute
  • Record of scholarly work and publications
  • Record of affiliations with professional organizations in Kinesiology
  • Record of higher education teaching excellence
  • Ability to travel and maintain normal office hours for student advising.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire.
  • No pre-employment sponsorship is authorized for this position

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Canvas or other online software
  • Experience teaching courses in the Kinesiology program and curriculum development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience teaching various courses at undergraduate/graduate levels in Kinesiology
  • Experience in national accreditation for educational programs

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses in the Kinesiology curriculum, preferred in the areas of exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology, physical education, and other human performance-related areas for undergraduate/or possible graduate programs.
  • Student advisement as assigned.
  • Active participation in program development, renewal, and revision.
  • Perform appropriate levels of service within the university, region, national, and international sports organizations.
  • Work with the Dean, chair, and Kinesiology coordinator to develop collaborative relationships with local and regional organizations and communities.
  • Actively apply internal/external funding for projects and research.
  • Serve on search committees for new program faculty.
  • As time and budgets permit, promote enrollment in on-campus and community programs.
  • Maintain program memberships or affiliations with relevant professional associations.
