About The Position
The University of Maine Presque Isle is seeking a broadly-trained historian or political scientist for a 9-month tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of History and Political Science beginning September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will bring a demonstrated record of teaching and research/professional development in the broad areas of history or political science. The candidate should have the ability to grow an exciting and innovative undergraduate academic program and to help build capacity within this program. The University of Maine Presque Isle recently established a B.A. in History and Political Science in the YourPace competency-based modality offered along with the program in traditional in-person and traditional online modalities, which include a range of courses in history and political science. Teaching load will be a mix of traditional in-person, traditional online, and YourPace modalities. Primary teaching responsibilities will include in-person sections of American Government and U.S. and World Civilizations surveys, and upper-level courses in history and/or political science in the traditional in-person, traditional online, and YourPace modalities in accordance with need. Advising history and political science students and serving on 1-2 campus committees is expected, including Early College/Dual Enrollment.
