The Department of Health Care Management at California State University, Long Beach is a regional leader in preparing diverse and equity-minded professionals to navigate and shape the evolving health care landscape. Through accredited programs, innovative curricular offerings, and strong partnerships with the health care industry, the department advances interdisciplinary education and applied scholarship in health care leadership and systems improvement. The undergraduate program (BS-HCA), accredited by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), integrates foundational business and health care management education with hands-on experience through a required internship. Two new undergraduate options, Healthcare Data Analytics and Risk Management and Safety, reflect the department's commitment to emerging fields by integrating health care administration with applied data science, risk analysis, and regulatory policy. At the graduate level, the Master of Science in Health Care Administration (MSHCA) program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) and is the only program in California offering both traditional and executive formats. The curriculum is designed to serve both early-career and mid-career professionals through a flexible, rigorous, and practice-oriented learning model. Faculty in the department engage in teaching, research, and service that support workforce development, innovation in care delivery, and inclusive excellence in health care management education.
