About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Visual Art + Design invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. This position will begin in the Fall Semester of 2026 (August 11th). Duties will include teaching perceptual, conceptual, technical, and critical skills in undergraduate courses across all levels of Graphic Design, including print and internet design, motion design, digital applications, and design history. The role also involves maintaining the computer design lab and may include teaching a foundations course if needed. Candidates must keep an active studio practice (client work or exhibitions), in addition to providing academic advisement, conducting periodic reviews of students, and performing university service as requested. Requirements

  • M.F.A. Degree in Graphic Design from an accredited university by hire date
  • Ability to teach all levels of Graphic Design at the undergraduate level, and the history of graphic design
  • Knowledge of contemporary design practices

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated commitment to artistic activity through an ongoing professional practice in graphic design, or an active exhibition record in a related discipline
  • College teaching Experience beyond graduate program
  • Ability to maintain a Graphic Design facility
  • Ability to teach Foundations-level courses in addition to Graphic Design
  • Expertise with multiple software packages included in Adobe Creative Suites
