About The Position

The UA Little Rock Geology Program invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Geology - 9 Month. The position will be in the Geology Program within the School of Physical Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Our program is dedicated to high-quality education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and the successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a strong research program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Geology or related field
ABD candidates will be considered
Committed to students' success as indicated by prior teaching experience and/or mentoring and supervisory experience of employees
Expertise in face-to-face and virtual teaching methodologies, including active learning practices
Expertise in Geology topics
Knowledge and use of best teaching and safety practices
Knowledge of general laboratory equipment and laboratory practices

Nice To Haves

Ability to teach courses in environmental geology, environmental science, geographic information systems (GIS), critical zone science, and elective courses in the applicant's field of expertise
College-level teaching experience is desired
Postdoctoral research experience is desired

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental geology, environmental science, critical zone science, and geographic information systems (GIS)
Teach introductory-level geology courses as needed
Develop and sustain a productive, externally funded research program
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research
Contribute through service activities, such as participating in school, college, and university-wide committees, assisting with recruitment efforts, and advising majors
