Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Geography and Geospatial Sciences in the Department of Geography and Anthropology with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

  • Teaching responsibilities will align with department needs and include instructional support for lower and upper-level undergraduate courses in geography and geospatial sciences.
  • Developing and teaching upper level GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) courses.
  • Mentoring students in the candidate's field(s) of research and scholarship.
  • Teaching courses of variable size and modalities, including large class sizes.
  • Engaging in scholarship in GeoAI and developing scholarship that collaborates with faculty and students.
  • Providing service to the degree programs, department, college, university, and professional community.
  • A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Geographic Information Science (GIS), or a related discipline, is required at the time of hire.
  • Evidence of expertise in the development and/or application of GeoAI in one or more fields of geographic/geospatial research (e.g., natural disasters, climate change, public health, environmental studies, economic development, urbanization, population dynamics, or cultural diffusion).
  • Experience in teaching lower-division general education courses in geography and geospatial sciences.
  • Experience in developing and teaching advanced courses in GeoAI and other fields of geospatial sciences.
  • Experience in upper-division courses in environmental geography, sustainability, regional geography, and/or systematic geography.
  • Demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in teaching in different course sizes, including large classes.
  • Experience in teaching on-line, hybrid, in-person large section courses.
  • Evidence of scholarship in other areas of geography and/or geospatial sciences in addition to expertise in GeoAI.
