About The Position

The Criminal Justice & Forensic Investigation department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Forensic Investigation starting in August of 2026. We are seeking a candidate who can contribute to curriculum development as we pursue FEPAC accreditation. While a background as a criminalist with laboratory or field experience is preferred, applicants from all forensic specialties are encouraged to apply. This is a full-time, 9-month, benefit-eligible appointment with a salary range of $64,000–$68,000 per academic year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements

• One of the following: A doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, MD, EdD, PsyD) in Forensic Science, a natural science, or a related field. An ABD (all but dissertation), if hired, will be contractually obligated to have earned their doctoral degree by January 1, 2027. A masters of science (MS) in Forensic Science, a natural science, or a related field and at least five years of work experience in forensics.
• Ability to teach undergraduate courses in Forensic Science as well as other related courses.
• At least one year of relevant teaching experience at the university level.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teaching multiple existing courses (e.g., Criminalistics, History and Ethics of Forensic Investigation, Senior Seminar)
• Develop and teach courses within their area of expertise (e.g., Crime Scene Documentation, Fingerprinting & Other Biometrics).
• Actively participating in research/scholarship/professional activities
• Providing career and academic advising/mentorship to students
• Participating in department, college, university, and public service.
• Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair.
