About The Position

Assistant Professor of Finance POSITION: Full-time faculty position (tenure-track or Professor of Practice), McMinnville campus STARTING DATE: July 1, 2026 RANK: Assistant Professor Linfield University, a comprehensive college that combines a strong emphasis on the liberal arts with a commitment to professional and interdisciplinary programs, invites highly qualified applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor (or Assistant Professor of Practice) of Finance beginning fall, 2026. The position will support the Finance major and minor, housed in the School of Business, with collaborating faculty and courses in multiple departments of the university. Duties include teaching the undergraduate core Financial Management course as well as upper division electives such as Investments, Financial Theory, Financial Institutions, International Finance & Seminar in Corporate Finance, along with other courses as determined by the Department Chair. Applicants should desire to be part of a committed team of faculty which works together to deliver a high-quality Finance & Business education and experience to our students. Candidates need to demonstrate the ability to teach foundations of Finance and an interest in teaching a variety of Finance courses across the curriculum, including masters'-level courses. In addition to Finance, students in the Business Department complete majors in accounting, international business, management, marketing, sport management and wine business. The Department of Business is guided by strategic plans at the university and department levels and is supported by a Business Advisory Council of alumni and business partners.

Requirements

  • Either (a) doctorate in finance or a closely related field; OR (b) a master's degree in finance or a closely related field accompanied by a recognized professional finance credential (e.g., CFA, CFP, FRM); OR (c) a master's degree in finance or a closely related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant finance-related professional experience
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching
  • Demonstrated potential for success in scholarly professional achievement and department/college service
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and students in a small university setting

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate teaching experience (highly desirable).
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate students, including first-generation students (desirable).
  • Evidence of relevant finance industry experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Teach entry-level, upper-level, and potentially master's-level finance courses, as well as other courses as determined by the department chair.
  • Build a record of scholarly professional achievement beyond teaching and service commitments.
  • Fulfill service responsibilities, including department, school, and university service and student advising.
  • Collaborate with related academic programs.
