About The Position

The Department of Finance in the College of Business at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) invites applications for the tenure-track Assistant Professor position to start in Fall 2026. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Finance, Financial Engineering, DBA in Finance, or related field from an AACSB (or EQUIS) accredited institution.
  • Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2026.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in the areas of investment, asset pricing, and general finance
  • Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Demonstrated potential for research, scholarship, and creative activities leading to publication
  • Demonstrated potential for service contributions to the department, college, university, and broader community

Nice To Haves

  • A record of successful or forthcoming publications and/or a promising research pipeline in Finance
  • Teaching experience at the university level
  • A record of related business, professional or managerial experience
  • Experience of successfully working with, mentoring, and/or teaching a diverse student population that is demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
  • Familiarity with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) curriculum and either current CFA charter holder status or a demonstrated interest in pursuing a CFA charter
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students with minoritized identities or experience using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population that is demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in investments, asset pricing, general finance and related areas. [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.]
  • Develop and update course content at the undergraduate and graduate levels to align with the discipline
  • Maintain an active research agenda in finance, leading to presentations and publications
  • Participate in service to the school, college, university, and profession/community
